Artist's Statement

My artwork reflects my attention to the details in family photographs. By relying on memories, experience and intuition for interpretation, I translate the photograph’s psychological implications into my paintings, drawings and prints. Vibrant color, texture and text, are used to deconstruct an image into its parts, much the same as a cinematographer’s lens captures an image in close up. By capturing significant details from an ordinary posed moment, my goal in my work is to underscore the contradictions of close and intimate relationships in families.
